MANNY
GCHX BIS CH. VANDERBILT'S MAN O' WAR, CD, CGN, RAE, TT TDI Am RN (sired by BISS Can.Am.Ch. Vanderbilt's Warpaint and out of Can.Am.Ch. Vanderbilt's Flowery Prose), Manny was our 'thrill a minute' showdog who got us back into the show ring big time. Always 'on' in the show ring, never fizzed by bitches in heat or  aggressive males he was a  dream to take to the shows. The fact that he won so much made it all the sweeter.

Manny was THE TOP WINNING SAMOYED PUPPY IN CANADA in 2003 with a Group First, several placings, four Best Puppy In Show and many Best Puppy in Group. He has also done very well at Samoyed specialties having won Best In Sweepstakes and Reserve Winners Dog in 2003 at the GMSF Specialty show in the USA at six months of age,  Sweepstakes BOS and Award of Merit at the Samoyed Association of Canada National Specialty in 2004 at sixteen months and BOS at the Samoyed Club of Ontario also under two years of age in  November,2004.

At two and a half Manny's show career went up another notch with him winning BEST IN SHOW,four group firsts and many group placings making him **THIRD TOP WINNING SAMOYED IN CANADA** for 2005.

Manny started off 2006 on a high note with a Group First and Group Second at Cobequid Dog Club while his daughter, Dushanbe's I'll Take Manhattan won BEST PUPPY IN SHOW. He was Third Top Sammy in Canada by virtue of Best of Breed wins and Sixth over all.

Not just a pretty face, Manny also does obedience work earning two legs  towards his C.D. in 2004 and  in 2005  completed his C.D. and earned his CGN and TT titles. He loves to do the jumps and retrieve the dumbell at training class but does not understand the concept of having to wait for a treat or praise so trials will have to wait a bit. He is enjoying Rally Obedience since constant praise is actually encouraged and hopefully competing in this new sport will serve as a transition for him competing at the open and utility levels of regular obedience.

In August of 2007, Manny earned his Rally Obedience Novice title in three straight trials handled by our instructor, Reta Boyd. Then the following month he earned his first two legs in  Rally Advanced and scored a high in class with a score of 93 out of a possible 100 points. I'm sure he would have scored much higher if his owner didn't make so many mistakes. Manny started off 2008 at a hectic pace by completing his Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent titles at our first show weekend in February. He was first in his
class at three of the trials and second in the last one due to my handler error. In May of 2010, Manny earned the  ten 'legs' required to complete his Rally Advanced Excellent title. This required him to pass both Advanced and Excellent classes in the same trial.

2007 saw Manny become the first Samoyed to become a GRAND CHAMPION. This was the first year this title was offered and we are very proud that Manny has joined such an elite level of dogs in Canada.

Manny loves to perform and we are even giving some thought to working on a draft dog title. Our main hold up so far is in getting the actual cart and harness as Manny, himself, is such a willing worker that I'm sure it wouldn't take long for him to learn the routine well enough to qualify.

Manny's puppies (2 boys, 4 girls) born June 11, 2005 from our own Ch. Vanderbilt Paint Me Pretentious, CGN ROMC are proving what an asset he will be as a stud. Four have their championship and a fifth is pointed. Our Macy finished hers with a BPIS, Menley has two Group Placings, Madison has both her Can. and Am. Championship (with specialty majors) but Painter is the STAR of the litter with a Group First, Second and Third in the USA when coming out as a special and then an AWARD OF MERIT at the SCA 2007 National Specialty !

His new son out of Tenny, "Newman", (DUSHANBE'S MAN O' MY DREAMS) has gotten off to a promising start by going Best of Winners for a two point win on his six month birthday. A few weeks later he placed in his 6-9 sweeps class and regular class at the SCA National in Indianapolis. Newman's litter sister, "Miley" (DUSHANBE'S BEST OF BOTH WORLDS) began her show career at eight months of age with a Winners Bitch at her first show, Golden Valley Kennel Club in California Nov 20, 2009 under noted judge, Charles Trotter. She was ably handled by the owner's teenaged son, Isaac Fornari, who defeated several pro handled bitches and came close to getting Best Of Winners which would have been a major. We are proud of this duo and look forward to more wins from them in the future.

Manny also has two daughters from our Dory who were pointed in 2009 from the puppy class, DUSHANBE'S BEST MAN FOR THE JOB (Josie) and DUSHANBE'S I AM WOMAN (Rory).

Manny turned eleven in January, 2014 and CKC has just advised us that he qualified for his Grand Champion Excellent title !

We would like to thank Judi and Blair Elford of Vanderbilt Samoyeds, Manny's breeders and co-owners, for sharing this great dog with us.

Manny's hips are OFA & OVC certified and eyes CERF certified normal.
